Welcome to Growing Gifts, a range of programmes designed to empower, enable and equip lay people of all ages and backgrounds across Church of England Birmingham to share in leading worship and preaching in your local church, as part of a team.

Growing Gifts: Main Programme

A formation and training programme for those who are called within a local church to lead worship or preach on an occasional basis, locally authorised. To enrol on this programme participants need the support of their Incumbent and PCC. If you think this might be for you, then do get in touch with your Incumbent, or someone in the Ministry Team, and arrange a conversation to explore together what God might be saying to you.

  • For a group of 8-12 from a number of churches
  • Led by GG Facilitators, who are Readers
  • 10 sessions over 5 months
  • In person

Young Worship Leaders & Preachers

A version of the Main Programme for use with young people in a local church or Oversight Area

  • For a group of young people
  • Led by the Vicar and/or youth minister
  • 6 sessions
  • Material downloaded by leader
  • In person

Stepping Stones

A first step for use within a local church or Oversight Area with a focus on either leading intercessions or reading scripture.

  • For a group in a local church or Oversight Area
  • Led by the Vicar or Reader
  • 3 sessions
  • All material downloaded by the group leader
  • In person

Growing as a Team

For use with newly emerging teams which include those who are leading worship or preaching on an occasional basis.

  • Led by the Vicar
