Licensed Reader Minister Training

Readers train in two distinct phases.

Under IME1 , Readers in Training learn in small supportive formation groups from tutors, visiting teachers and each other.

IME1 is an intensive 11-month initial programme which includes confidence-building as a preacher and teacher of faith, leader of worship and encourager of mission. It features assessed work (written and spoken), five sermons, theological reflection and opportunity to grow in public leadership in your church and community. It also includes a four-week placement in another parish.

If following completion of IME1 , you are recommended to be licensed and admitted as a Reader by the Bishop, you continue on into IME2This phase continues to build on skills of theological reflection as you learn from your practice of ministry in your context. You will meet with your formation group over the following 18 months and continue an assessed pathway led by tutors, with particular attention to team building, nurturing Christian faith, apologetics, mentoring and theological reflections on an interfaith encounter.
