Initial Ministerial Education (IME) for Readers in Training
Readers in Training learn in small supportive formation groups from tutors, visiting teachers and each other.
IME1
is an intensive 11-month initial phase, meeting weekly. It features assessed work (written and spoken), three sermons, theological reflection and
opportunity to grow in public leadership in their church and community. It also includes a four-week placement in another parish.
If following completion of IME1, individuals are recommended to be licensed and admitted as a Reader by the Bishop, they continue on into IME2.
IME2 is a less intensive 11-month phase, with monthly meetings. It features assessed work (written and spoken), two further sermons and a missional placement. The goal of IME2 is to embed disciplines of reflective practice and theological learning as Licensed Readers live out their ministry.
