This module starts with an opportunity to reflect upon those who have invested in us over the years, to consider the impact they’ve had on our lives (and in particular our leadership), and to ponder on what worked well. From here, we consider why we choose to invest in young leaders, who we identify with leadership giftings, and how we then equip them, taking inspiration from the life and leadership of Jesus. There is then an opportunity to create an action plan to identify young leaders, give them opportunities, and equip them.
Desired Learning Outcomes:
- To reflect on who has invested in you and the impact that has had.
- To think about why, who, and how we invest in young leaders.
- To make a plan to lead young leaders and put it into action.
This module is aimed at clergy and youth workers who want to identify, develop and support new young leaders in their context. The module is self-led, but you could do it alongside others who are similarly motivated.
Emma Sargeant (Growing Younger Adviser at Church of England Birmingham) guides you through the module, encouraging you to draw from your own experience and teachings of the Bible, to reflect on the requirements, demands and aspects of leadership. Emma explores a process for developing leadership, and then encourages you to develop and deliver on an action plan to develop new leaders.
