Welcome to Flex Pick and Mix, a place designed to help you grow and equip yourself with all you need to deliver high-quality youth and children’s work in your parish and beyond. Whether you are a volunteer or a paid employee or just starting out on this journey, you will find something here to fit your learning needs.
Pick and Mix is designed for you to explore and decide what fits you best. Our flexible approach means no pressure - you can sign up for as many modules as you like, pausing and restarting your learning to suit your lifestyle needs. On average Pick and Mix modules take between 45 minutes and three hours to complete.

Our Modules:
An Insight into Eating Disorders
This module lifts the lid on Eating Disorders looking at what they are, why they happen, and equipping you with the confidence and tools to engage in a sensitive and caring way.
Supporting Children and Young People Who Have Been Bereaved
This module explores loss broadly. It looks at its impact on family systems, relevant theories, practical tools, and approaches, whilst highlighting the importance of self-care.
Beginning a Journey in Spirituality
This module explores exercises and tools designed to help you deepen and increase your connection with God, through your everyday life.Creative Prayer
An overview of creative prayer, exploring how it can help people engage with God. With practical tips for using creative prayer methods in various ministry contexts, plus chance to use some example prayer ideas and reflect on the learning experience.Ethical Witness amongst Muslims
Evangelism amongst Muslim young people can be controversial. Whilst we may want to share our faith it can cause tensions if done insensitively. Using the Christian-Muslim Forum’s ethical guidelines for witness, this module provides a way to negotiate this issue.Faith at Home
A chance to hear from parents who are living out faith at home, with its highs and lows and how their insights can help you shape the support and ministry you do in your church context around faith at home.Engaging with Hinduism

This module offers a great opportunity to explore why we choose to invest in young leaders and how we can effectively lead them, equip them release them into their full potential in Christ.My Faith, My Story
How can we help people become more confident in sharing their faith with friends, and particularly with friends from different faith backgrounds? This module looks at a simple model that many people have found really helpful in giving them the ideas and confidence of how to talk about faith in a multi-religious context.Outside Church
In this module we will explore the different ways you can create your own expression of outside church, hearing from people across Birmingham and beyond who have had a go and loved connecting with their Creator God through creation.Planning a Programme
This module helps you look at your children's and youth programs with fresh eyes, thinking about how to strategically plan, helping you think about your aims and objectives for the year, showing you how and where to look for good resources. Prayer Spaces in Schools
